At Outlier Media, we put community information needs at the center of everything we do. We listen to and learn about the issues important to Detroit residents and report what we find.
Detroiters are our assignment editor. We hear directly from you to determine where we should place our reporting resources. We investigate when you tell us your concerns about utility shut-offs, damage experienced by summer floods or challenges with the Detroit towing department. As a small newsroom, we work to ensure we are placing the skills of our talented team where they can make the most significant impact on behalf of city residents.
Our goal is to address information and accountability gaps in Detroit. We want to make this city a more equitable place to work and live for all Detroiters, and we know we can’t do this work without the support of our community! So we’re excited to share the opportunity we have to raise up to $30,000 through NewsMatch, a collaborative fundraising movement to support independent journalism like ours.
