Dear Reader,

I’m John Mooney, the founding editor of NJ Spotlight. I want to thank you for taking the time to read NJ Spotlight’s email newsletters. Whether you’ve just signed on or you’ve been reading us for a long time, we deeply appreciate your time and attention.

You’ve subscribed to our public affairs newsletter at an important time. Recently, NJ Spotlight was acquired by WNET, the nation’s largest PBS affiliate and operator of NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network. Now that we’ve joined forces, we are more prepared than ever before to provide you in-depth, multi-platform coverage of our state’s most important public policy issues.

At a time of shrinking state and local news coverage nationwide, this collaboration will create one of the largest and most comprehensive news and public affairs organizations in the state.

What’s best, this media powerhouse isn’t funded by corporate shareholders seeking profit at any cost. It’s member-supported by people like you.

In addition to our daily news coverage, there are a number of other ways to interact with us. You can follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. We also host regular in-person events around the state — you’ll hear from us occasionally about these events, and I hope you’ll consider joining us for those discussions.

We do ask that the people who value our journalism help pay for it — whether you can afford $5 a month or $500 a year.

If you find us valuable, we hope that ultimately you’ll consider making a donation to support our work. But in the meantime, we wish you happy reading!

Sincerely,
