Welcome to our community
Text version for screen readers:
I’m John Adams, editor-in-chief and founder of the Montana Free Press.
I’m writing to introduce myself and give you a little background on who we are.
Montana Free Press is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit news organization. We were founded in 2016 to fill the reporting gap created by the decline of statehouse news bureaus and diminished corporate investment in watchdog journalism.
Today, this need is clearer than ever.
At Montana Free Press, we seek to uncover the truth and bring to light essential news stories by studying arcane bureaucratic processes, seeking out dark corners of major institutions, digging deep into data and documents, and holding those in power accountable to the people.
We work independently and in collaboration with other news outlets around Montana to produce meaningful news stories that have an impact on the lives and livelihoods of local communities.
In my role as founder and editor-in-chief, I work closely with our editor to lead a team of talented and passionate reporters from around the state. Together, we bring you the news that you can’t find anywhere else — nonpartisan, in-depth, data-driven reporting on the topics that matter most to Montanans.
I hope you enjoy receiving our newsletters and will take advantage of other ways to engage with us. You can start by visiting our website, where we post stories and investigations daily. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter if you like.
We’re dedicated to bringing you in-depth Montana news, information, and analysis. As you continue to read and share our reporting, I hope you consider making a donation to support the work we do. That’s how we continue to tell the stories no one else can tell.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reply to this email.
