I’m Liz Willen, editor in chief of The Hechinger Report.

I’m writing to introduce myself and give you a little background on The Hechinger Report, a nonprofit news organization focused on inequality and innovation in education. Since 2010, we’ve been taking readers inside classrooms and on to campuses, explaining and exploring the critical education issues you care about most.
Today, this need is clearer than ever.
As editor in chief, I lead our committed team of journalists in writing about education without bias or jargon. I work closely with executive editor, Sarah Garland, who manages our media partnerships and editorial direction. I also raise money to cover our costs so we can focus on the stories that matter most and will make a real difference.
Of course, my main purpose is to serve and inform readers.
