FERN has made it our mission to produce investigative and explanatory reporting on food and agriculture that’s powerful, trustworthy, and high-impact—essential journalism that the typical news cycle misses. We couldn’t have done it without you.
This year we celebrate 10 years of providing you unique, impactful, nonprofit journalism on issues from climate change to hunger, water rights to farmer rights, and so much more. Since we began this work our world has changed drastically. We’ve seen climate change enter the mainstream media cycles, lived through political, racial, and social justice reckonings, and let’s not forget the global pandemic.
FERN has persevered—and found ways to deeply report on the difficulties and problems in our food and agriculture systems, and we have also highlighted the innovations, changes, and hopeful stories that set us up for another 10 years of sharing with our community.
As we head into the final months of 2022, we need you, our readers and supporters, to step up. That’s why we’re excited to share that we are (once again!) a part of NewsMatch, the national gift-doubling campaign that supports nonprofit news organizations like FERN.
