At Crosscut, we believe that an informed public is essential to solving the challenges of our time. We are the Pacific Northwest’s independent, reader-supported, nonprofit newsroom and our mission is to provide the facts and analysis you need to participate in civic discourse, and to create a more just, equitable and sustainable community.
Some of our recent work:
- Helping readers navigate the coronavirus pandemic
- Untangling a complicated – and misunderstood – story about Seattle’s housing instability
- Keeping voters prepared, from city council elections, to statewide and presidential elections and holding holding government accountable
Some of our most-read stories since last year include Northgate’s transition to a ghost mall, KEXP’s Cheryl Waters and her fight against cancer, a local choir that sings for the dying , and the painting of the Edgewater Hotel’s orca mural (with the help of Eddie Vedder, of course).
