Thanks for electing to receive email updates from The Maine Monitor, a local journalism product published by The Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, a nonprofit and nonpartisan civic news organization based in Augusta.
We produce two newsletters, and encourage you to sign up separately to receive both:
- The Daily Monitor, sent daily, curates the most important stories of the day from us and our statewide media partners.
- The Sunday Monitor, sent every other Sunday, features original work from our reporters and contributors.
There are three things that set us apart from other Maine newsrooms:
We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization with no advertising and no subscription paywall. Everything we do is free and accessible to everyone, making us beholden to no one but our readers and supporters.
We focus on investigative reporting and enterprise storytelling, a form of journalism most at risk of disappearing due to budget cuts and resource constraints at other outlets. We are committed to producing important, in-depth local journalism, and then sharing that content for free to our media partners statewide to share with their readership.
